Corona Plasma Cleaner

We offer several corona and plasma cleaners that can be used to clean the surface of piezo film and other plastic or even metal parts, to enhance and promote adhesion strength with electrodes such as thin gold, aluminum, or screen printed silver, and adhesion for painting, printing, or lamination.

Corona is for ambient use without vacuum at lower cost. we have machines for both small size sheet, or roll-to-roll processing.

Plasma is normally under vacuum with much less damage to the piezo film and it is more effective, but at slower speed and higher cost.

If you have non-flat 3D objects, it is better to be treated inside a large plasma chamber.

Vacuum plasma cleaners (low pressure) provide high-precision, deep cleaning, and 3D surface activation for complex parts by using specialized gases in a sealed chamber. Corona treatment is a high-speed, cost-effective atmospheric process for 2D films/foils. Plasma offers superior adhesion and etching, while corona is limited to surface energy activation.

Key Comparisons:
  • Process & Environment: Vacuum plasma operates in a sealed vacuum chamber with processed gases (argon, oxygen) for high-energy, uniform treatment. Corona uses ambient air at atmospheric pressure.
  • Application & Geometry: Plasma is ideal for 3D, complex, or small parts needing high precision. Corona is designed for flat, high-speed, roll-to-roll materials like plastic films.
  • Treatment Quality: Plasma cleans, etches, and functionalizes surfaces for superior, permanent adhesion. Corona provides a shallower, less durable, and lower surface energy increase.
  • Cost & Speed: Corona has a lower setup cost and higher throughput. Vacuum plasma is more expensive and slower due to the batch-processing vacuum, but offers higher quality.
  • Effect: Vacuum plasma can double surface energy (e.g., from 38mN to 72mN on silicone).
When to Choose Which:
  • Choose Vacuum Plasma: For medical device, electronics, or aerospace parts requiring high-precision adhesion, cleaning, and etching on complex 3D shapes.
  • Choose Corona: For high-speed printing, coating, or laminating of plastic webs, films, and foils where high volume and low cost are prioritized.
