Polylactic acid, also known as poly(lactic acid) or polylactide (PLA), is a thermoplastic polyester material. It can be produced from renewable resources (rather than petroleum), and it is approved by FDA as biocompatible material. It is also biodegradable, making it a great choice for medical implantable Application.
Due to the chiral nature of lactic acid, several distinct forms of polylactide exist: poly-L-lactide (PLLA) is the product resulting from polymerization of L,L-lactide (also known as L-lactide). Due to its unique polymer chain chiral structure, uniaxially oriented PLLA is has resonable piezo effect d14.
PolyK can produce piezoelectric PLLA film with strong d14 piezo effect in roll-to-roll process with width of 500 mm, thickness from 30 um to 150 um. While such piezo film can be used in implantable medical devices, our products are provided only for scientific research purpose, NOT for commercial medical applications.
To facilitate the scientific research in PLLA, we offer:
1. PLLA Resin in small quantity [soluble in chloroform]
2. PLLA Film: Extruded and quenched, in amorphous phase
3. Uniaxially oriented PLLA film cut in d14 direction: also in amorphous phase, with reasonable piezoelectric response.
