PEC is poly(ethylene carbonate) with Mw of 50,000-200,000, Poly (ethylene carbonate) is a solid polymer. It is an amorphous, clear, readily processible plastic with long term mechanical stability. Glass transition temperature 0 to 10 C. Density 1.42 g/cc. Decomposition temperature 220 C. Refractive index 1.470. Soluble in 1,2-Dichloroethane, NMP, Acetonitrile, Dimethyl Carbonate, Gamma Butyrolactone (GBL), propylene carbonate, Triethylene glycol dimethyl ether.
PPC is poly(propylene carbonate) with Mw of 100,000-300,000, It is a solid polymer. It is an amorphous, clear, readily processible plastic with long term mechanical stability. Glass transition temperature 15 to 40 C. Density 1.26 g/cc. Decomposition temperature 250 C. Refractive index 1.463. Soluble in 1,2-Dichloroethane, NMP, Acetonitrile, Dimethyl Carbonate, Gamma Butyrolactone (GBL), propylene carbonate, Triethylene glycol dimethyl ether, THF, MEK, Ethyl Acetate, Chloroform, etc.
Polybutylene carbonate is another polycarbonate with Tg of 0-20 C
Potential use as binders for litium ion battery due to their high dielectric constant
also as additives for high dielelectric energy storage devices. These polymers themselves are too soft to make ultrathin film (similar to rubber or gel at 25 C), you may be able to produce polymer blends with other polymers with high dielectric constant to enhance the mechanical strength.
